Character
Georgian Meadows was built over more than a decade (2001–2014), so it has a settled, established feel with trees filling in. The neighbourhood is laid out around a central path that connects to the town trails, and there are two parks for the kids.
Homes you'll find
Homes are mainly detached, built to ENERGY STAR standards, and range from about 1,280 to 3,000 square feet. That range makes it a natural move-up neighbourhood: you can start smaller and stay in the area as your family grows.
Amenities & walkability
Black Ash Park and Georgian Meadows Park are right in the neighbourhood. West-end shopping and groceries along Highway 26 are a short drive, and downtown is close by bike.
Trails nearby
This is one of the best family neighbourhoods for trail access. The central path connects to the network, and there's a trail map board at Sixth Street and Black Ash Trail, where the Black Ash Creek trail heads toward the Georgian Trail.
Who it suits
Young families, move-up buyers, and people who want a detached home with trails close by.
Schools & shops
Collingwood's public elementary schools are Admiral Collingwood, Cameron Street, Connaught and Mountain View; high school students attend Collingwood Collegiate Institute (public) or Our Lady of the Bay (Catholic). School boundaries shift as town grows, so I always have buyers confirm the school for a specific address with the board's school locator before they fall in love with a house.
Peter's take
If you have kids who love to bike, Georgian Meadows is a great place to start your search. The parks and paths really are a big part of daily life here.
