Character
Balmoral Village was planned as an "age in place" community for people 55 and over. Bungalows and townhomes were completed in summer 2019, and there's a retirement residence on site, so neighbours can move to more support without leaving the community.
Homes you'll find
Homes are bungalows and townhomes designed for main-floor living. The developer has also proposed the Balmoral Vita Signature Residences, targeted for 2028. As with any planned project, timing can change, so I'd confirm the latest status before counting on it.
Amenities & walkability
The golf course is right next door, and the developer describes downtown as about an eight-minute bike ride along the waterfront trail. West-end grocery stores and services are close by car.
Trails nearby
The Georgian Trail and the waterfront trail make it easy to bike into town or out toward Blue Mountain without getting on the highway.
Who it suits
Active adults 55+, couples planning ahead for retirement, and families looking for a place for a parent close to Collingwood.
Schools & shops
This is a 55+ community, so schools are less of a focus. For visiting grandchildren, the town's elementary schools, Collingwood Collegiate Institute and Our Lady of the Bay are all a short drive.
Peter's take
Balmoral is worth a look if you'd like to plan your next move once, rather than twice. Come walk the community with me and see the retirement residence for yourself.
